In 1984 Ken Taber and other budding artists formed Batemans Bay Arts & Crafts Society Inc. Several exhibitions were held in the following years and in 1991-1993 a gallery was established to display work on a permanent basis in the Bay.
In 1999 Wattlebark Gallery was opened at Mogo where a rotating exhibition is on view daily. The Batemans Bay Arts and Crafts Society members work in various mediums ranging from oils to watercolour, realism to abstract, seascape to landscape, still life to portraiture with something for everyone. Also on display is an amazing range of innovative craft items, all hand made by members.
Batemans Bay Arts & Crafts Society promotes and encourages Arts and Crafts. It organises Exhibitions of Art and Craft and conducts workshops of instruction periodically. Exhibitions October, January & Easter - Contact Wattlebark Gallery 02 44742243
In 2008 BBACS held a project where members were encouraged to research Birds, Plants & Animals Indigenous to our area. They then painted or crafted their choice of subject, their work was photographed and an exhibition was held and now a booklet is available at Wattlebark Gallery.
